Red Beach Santorini
Red rock, red pepples, deep blue ocean
The red beach on the volcanic island of Santorini is truly unique because most of Santorini’s beaches are made up of various types of black pebbles.
The beach is famous for its red rock and red sand which is a beautiful sight against the deep blue colour of the water. The redness of the rocks and sand also varies during different times of the year sometimes being darker red and other times pinkish red.
The red beach can be accessed by car or bike and a small hike down the mountain or a 'caique' (small boat) that has various daparture points around the island.
A great day out is a visit to the nearby archeological site of Akrotiri followed by a swim at the red beach. |
